Trump told reporters he would pay for the car with a $80,000 check and leave it at the White House for his staff to drive around. The president also said he hopes that his purchase will be good news for Tesla, which is struggling with slumping sales and falling share prices. “I think it’s a great product,” he said. Calling Musk “one of the great people of our country,” Trump said “we have to celebrate him.”
